Location: White Tree Studio, Sullivan’s Quay, Cork, Ireland
Some of Tony O’Connor’s earliest memories and his love for the horse began in a dark forge with his black-smith uncle, with every breath filled with smoke and the smell of horses. This is how his story started.
Tony went on to study fine art at Crawford College of Art & Design. He now has his own studio in Cork, Ireland called White Tree Studio creating more of his famous paintings.
The artist says it the best:
With a disciplined approach in his study of horse anatomy, Tony puts a great emphasis on technical execution. As with much of his work the void of background & simplicity of the pieces serve to highlight the natural physical perfection of these animals. The horse & the beauty of its majestic form & spirit are the basis of his canvas. The result of his inimitable combination of an innate aptitude for draughtsmanship & his lifelong passion for horses is a body of beautifully evocative paintings that capture the unique power, grace & nobility of the equine form. Anyone who appreciates classical elegance cannot but be drawn in.
Tony will be at these upcoming show this year (2015):
- July 2015 – Longines Royal International Horse Show – Hickstead, UK
- August 2015 – Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show – Dublin, Ireland
- Septermber 2015- Equus Film Festival – NYC, USA
- Tony will also be at the Equine Art Retreat giving Master Class Workshops in Oklahoma, USA in October.
