If you happen to be close by The City of Lights, Or anywhere in Las Vegas or are planning on visiting, make sure to to add to your sightseeing list The Bellagio Resort & Casino–and not just for the gambling, but for the 12 foot tall glass horse statue, of course!
Created by Venue Arts, the “Tang Dynasty Horse”, a 12 foot tall hand-sculpted horse finished in gold leaf and pave mirror greets visitors in the lobby. The sculptures was commissioned by Steve Wynn, owner of Wynn Resorts, back in 1998 for the hotel’s opening.
Venue Arts states on it’s website that it has created over 50 art displays for the Casino, varying from Chinese New Year art scenes to a “Temple of Love”, a replica of the Temple of Love in Versailles, France which is used as a butterfly habitat for their Conservatory Gardens.
The blown glass above the sculpture is what gives it’s magnificent colors, by having the colors reflect onto the mirror shards. The flower-like blown glass was created by the world renowned glass blower Dale Chihuly.
Forget the about the gambling, I want to see this amazing statue!
