Two weeks ago, I was at the World Cup Finals For Jumping & Dressage in Omaha NE with both my Blue Jean Jumper and most recent sculpture, Blue Jean Dressage. Both are life size and covered in Denim and are two of 18 sculptures in my art series, the Blue Jean Horse Project. I am exhibiting these sculptures at national and international shows/events so they can be signed by the world’s best riders and trainers. Once all 18 are completed, they will be auctioned off to benefit charities from around the world to help horses in need across the globe.
Jennifer Gates & Todd Minikus signed my Blue Jean Jumper!
What Happened At The World Cup?
Although we had many setbacks both before and while on the road ( my mom drove 19 hours straight from New Jersey to Omaha) we made it there in time for the Jumping Finals and I got the chance to meet some of the Show Jumping legends of the world. Riders and trainers like Mclain Ward (this year’s World Cup Winner) Jan Tops (owner/founder of Longines Global Champions Tour) Charlie Jacobs, Nick Skelton, Katie Prudent, Todd Minikus Jennifer Gates and Lisa Roskens (CEO of Omaha Equestrian Foundation) among others signed my Blue Jean Jumper. I am looking forward to seeing what equine events Omaha will be hosting in the future, as this was a spectacularly done international event that I am honored to have exhibited at.

Future Exhibits
A day in the life of an artist is never finished…so the day we got home I started planning on other shows to exhibit and have riders/trainers sign my sculptures for my art charity project. I will be exhibiting at Old Salem’s Spring Show May 13th-14th. Then, the Dressage Festival Of Champions at the United States Equestrian Tram Headquarters in NJ, May 17-19th and that same week I will be at Old Salem’s Spring Show Week 2 May 20th-21st, so that will be a packed month! I am working on a few other shows for this summer/fall. I will also be at the Gold Cup at Old Salem, September 13th-17th. If you would like to donate your old jeans to my project or if you are interested in commissioning a sculpture (full horse, head, etc.) of any size using your very own denim, Please email me at: theflyingshetlands@gmail.com. All commissions will be financing the costs for my art project that will ultimately help horses in need around the world.
The Flying Shetlands & Art Of The Horse News!
Yes, I’m back to writing two articles a week featuring the best equine art from around the world. Mona Snell will be starting us off with her Q&A about her fab equine art #equinearthour on Twitter. And what about everyone’s favorite Facebook group for equine art? Art Of The Horse (AOTH) is galloping strong at 14,300+ members! We’ve had some great Q&As and discussions, seen absolutely stunning art (as always), and I’ll be sharing a cool surprise for members later next month. My friend and fellow artist, Shannagh-Leigh Hartshorn came up with a brilliant idea last week to have a new sister group called “Art Of The Animals” since so many artists also create portraits/scenes depicting other animals besides horses. We will both be co-admins. So, hop on over to Art Of The Animals and look at the best animal art on the internet!
If you love equine art, AOTH is the place for you. Go HERE to join and HERE to give TFS a like on Facebook!
