On the 5th day of Christmas, our featured artist is-Jenai Davis! Each day for the next 7 days, I will be featuring a few of my favorite artists for the 12 Days Of Equine Artists (an equine art take on the 12 Days Of Christmas). Let’s go!
You can read the past features of this series here: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and Day 4.
With an intense knowledge of art and horses and eye for detail, Jenai Davis knows her horses. If there is one thing that I love most about her work, it’s the impeccable way she creates the sheen and shine on her horse’s coats–it just adds such an memorizing feeling to them. In addition the array of colors and feelings she expresses through her paints, Jenai also works in pastels and charcoal. Living with her horses and other pets in Tennessee, USA, Jenai works in two artistic areas–painting and music. She focused on her musical career for several years, touring throughout Europe and writing songs for famous singers like Sarah Evans, Martina McBride, and others. However, it wasn’t until her daughter begged for riding lessons that she returned to the horse world and started on new career path. To read more about her life journey and an in depth Q&A, go here.
“My work with these amazing creatures truly changed my life. They have an astounding ability to teach you a lot about yourself and life if you allow it. As Rumi said, “There is a voice that doesn’t use words. Listen.” I want to share this voice through my art.”-Jenai Davis
