It’s Day 9 of the 12 Days Of Equine Artists, and equine art take on the 12 Days Of Christmas! Today’s featured artist is American Mona Snell, who lives in Florida. For the next three days I will be featuring a few of my favorite artists. Time to go and see more more magnificent art!
You can read about the previous artists here: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7 and Day 8.
Mona paints the essence of the horse, from the soft sheen of the coat to the twitch of the ears, you feel like you already know the horse and could reach out through time to touch one of her subjects. I especially love Mona’s painterly technique that she uses to create her timeless pieces, that reminds me of the masters of equine art in the last century, like Sam Savitt. Her mastered effect of color, light and darkness tells a story of the years of practice that it took to reach such a level of excellence. Like I said in my previous article, you can feel like you already know this horse, even if you just saw it through her painting. An artist has truly achieves greatness when they can portray their subject in such a manner.
You do an amazing job promoting equine art!
