Genghis Khan And His Horse: The Largest Equestrian Statue in The World~

genghis-khan-6                                       Genghis Khan & His Horse~ The largest equestrian statue in the world~ It’s true-this 131 foot tall, 250 tons  gleaming stainless steel statue of Genghis Khan and his horse that was made in 2008 IS THE LARGEST EQUSTRIAN  STATUE IN THE WORLD! This magnificent statue of  Genghis Khan that was made by D. Erdenebileg and architect J. Enkhjargal is hardly known at all. It stands on top of the Genghis Khan Statue Complex, a visitor center , with 36 columns representing the 36 khans from Genghis to Ligdan Khan. The statue is symbolically pointed east towards were he was said to have been born. But, this area has a very special legend to Mongolia. It is said that Genghis Khan himself found a golden whip  at that that particular spot  the age of 15. Though there is no exact evidence to support it. It  was thought  though that the whip is what inspired him to conquer much of the known world. Inside the two-story base of the statue, visitors can see a replica of Genghis Khan’s legendary golden whip too. It also has other great  exhibits there as well . Unfortunately, they do serve traditional cuisine of horse meat and potatoes.
